Deputy Sheriff Franklin Minnie succumbed to injuries sustained two days earlier in a motorcycle crash as he was pursuing a trespassing suspect on I-80.
As Deputy Minnie was passing a tractor-trailer, a piece of debris struck his motorcycle, causing him to lose control and strike the median near the Boomstown exit.
Deputy Minnie had served with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office for 10 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.
