William "Billy" Murphy, you were my Grandfather although I didn't know you. My father was your son, Charles W. Murphy. He was just a baby when you were killed. Such a tragedy. You live on as does your wife, Mary Ellen Ryan Murphy (Mandy) in that my father named me after her and my daughter is named after her also. Thank you for your service.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
GOD Bless

Dear Detective William Murphy, You were my great-uncle. My Grandpa Jeremiah Murphy and you were brothers. My father Joseph William Murphy was your nephew. My Dad and I always attended Police day in Peoria IL together, and although it was a very sad event for him, my Dad always honored you for your dedication and your sacrifice. God Bless you, Detective William Murphy. Your Great-Niece, Maureen Murphy-Eaton

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and sixth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
