I never got to know my grandfather, It is said "you can't miss what you never had" but from all I know of him' I missed a lot. My dad always had a difficult time talking about his dad and I think he never got over the loss.

I regret that I never got to meet my grandfather. When I was growing up, anyone who talked about him said what a wonderful man he was. One time I asked my grandmother why she never remarried. She said, "When you have had the best, you're not interested in anyone else." What a tribute!

Jevette - You have tried to contact me on several different social media areas. My father was Douglas Dane Barker and I am Beverly Barker-Johnson. Doug Barker's daughter. I sent you a message on facebook along with a friend request. You didn't tell me Chief Morris was your Great Grandfather you only asked to find out what type of family my father was from. Just get in touch with me and I'll be more than happy to show you pictures and tell you anything you would like to know. My Father came from a very good family.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 53rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

It would have been nice to know this wonderful man. Throughout the years I have heard many great stories. I also do not think my great grandmother got over his death as I know she kept his memory alive in many ways. Those are the things I do remember. The tribute and plaque in Mannington square are very honorable. I am proud of him and my heritage.

He would have be my grandfather, but was killed before I was born. I would loved to have known him. I have heard so many good things about. I don't think that my grandmother ever got over his death.
