Sergeant Moran,

You were my mother, Elizabeth Brown 's God father and the best friend of my grandfather OJ Brown.

I was in police work for most of 40 years including service as the Decatur, Illinois, Police Chief.
Rest in peace, you did your duty

Robert Moran was my grandfather. Just yesterday we read the story of his last days on this earth published in a book called "Officer Down" written by Norman V. Kelly. The book recaps each officer in the state of Illinois that has been killed in the line of duty.

It saddens me to know that my father who is a wonderful man grew up without a father as he was only 3 years old when his father was taken from him.

My Grampa was indeed a hero in my eyes and he would be proud of the legacy that he left on this earth.
