Reflections for Police Officer Emilio Fidel Miyares

I always see messages from your wife Terry on these web pages. I had no idea
that you died so long ago. She certainly has done a good job of keeping your
memory alive all these years. You were very much in love and it is sad that you
have been apart this long. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Hi Just a few words, tomorrow our little girl will turn 26 and our little boy is already 29, we are leaving for a week vacation to Del Ray, remember where we always spent all those great times with your family and mine (ever since we were 15 and 17) well we have not been there for a long time, last year our son, because of some coinsidence stay at the same Hotel, he called me and said 'mom we are all comming next year", so we are all going, the kids, grandkids, my mom, my sister and her family, Carlos and myself... We will remember you and will be making a "fire" at the beach just for you...

look down and smile at the kids I am pretty sure we will know that is you.

love always,

Terry,

Mrs Miyares,
I think it is great that you add all of those reflections to the newly added officers memorial page. It really shows what type of person you are. I think it is great after all these years you still comfort other people in OUR Family that you never have met.
I was only two years old when your husband was killed but it still hurts the same. He is still my brother in blue and he always will be.

"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

Rest in peace Officer Miyares. It was actually your memorial that first brought me to this website. I was looking for a memorial for MDPD Officer Somohano and when I googled it your page came up. My father was a police officer with Metro Dade for 30 years so I feel a bond with all LEO. When an officer dies it hurts. The bond that exists between LEO is the same as with soldiers. I would also like to say that your wife Terry does a great job of keeping your memory alive. Everytime a name is added to this page she is there to leave her support and condolences. She is truly a remarkable woman. Look after all your brother in arms protecting the streets here at home and those of us who are just a little far from home. God be with you!

When your husband was murdered my grandfather had just passed away. My mom was at his grave the day they buried your husband. I was young but, my mom always tells me how impacted she was by his death and hearing the 21 gunshot salute etc. It was very emotional for her. After all these years, even though we don't know you nor did we know your husband we think of him. And, pray for him and his family. Was he murdered at Westland Mall? That's a question we always wondered.

Glad to hear his family is doing well.
A friend,
Anne

Well, today you have another friend up in Heaven with you, Willie Perez died last night of a massive heart attack, please take care of him, we will be taking care of his family down here. Remember the softball games? those were great times with all of the Hialeah PD guys. I'll be with the family pretty soon, tell Willie not to worry about them, just to look after them from up there.

I was going through my sons reflections and seen where your wife Terry left a reflections shortly after my sons accident. Thank you Terry, it's taken 4 years to get around to thanking you but needless to say your kindness and concern is greatly appreicated. I know you miss Emilio as much as we miss our son, I only wish there would be a day that our Officers and there families would not have too endure what we have had to endure. But we both know that's not possible. I just hope that I can be there for the families to come, I check Clint's site everyday, I don't know why it just drawns me to it. Thank you again Terry for the reflection and thank you Officer Miyares for your sacrifice and the sacrifice that your family has to endure everyday without you. You are a true hero, I have blue candles that burn 24/7 in memory of all L.E.O.'s.

Feliz Navidad/Merry Christmas, as always we will be missing you, my dad and your dad....As like years prior our son will be roasting the pig on Christmas Eve, as is our "Cuban" tradition and how you used to do it, he really took after you(even if he was only 7 when you left) we got everything ready for our big dinner tomorrow, our son and his girlfriend got the pig ready; the grandkids were all here (running around) and our daughter and her husband helping to get the house ready. On Christmas day your brother and his family and your mom will come visit as every year, and we will all miss not having you around.

love always, your wife and kids

Officer Miyares Rest in Peace my brother and thank you for your service.

To Terry
I want to thank you for the words you provided to Joshua Norris EOW 7/5/07 who was to be my son in-law, they touched my daughter and has helped my family during a dark time. My daughter had a general idea of how large our police family was, but your reflection showed just how large the family of blue is. God Bless you and I know your husband is helping Josh in heaven on his new watch.
