Dear Mrs. Miyares,

Thank you for the reflection you left on my husband's site. I appreciate knowing that other people are thinking of me and my family - it really is a comfort.

I am also sorry for your loss. Your husband died so young; what a senseless tragedy. You wrote that your children were 7 and 4 at the time of his death - my children both just had birthdays and turned 7 and 4. I worry so much about them, it is nice to know that your kids grew up just fine. I will do my best to raise them without their father, but it still worries me......

My family and I plan on traveling to Washington in May to honor all the fallen heroes, including those like your beloved Emilio who have gone before. God bless your family.

Hello Terry, I don't now if you remember me or not, I was on motors with Miami, it's been a long time, I guess the last times we saw each other was in DC in 1987, 88 & 89. It is good to see that your children have done well and that you have grandchildren. Emilio I know is so very proud of the job you did with your family. I read your reflections and it brings back so many memories of the cops we lost thru out the 80's in Miami Dade. I just started getting onto the web about a month ago. I need to get in touch with Debbie Craig, I know she is out of state, out west. If you see or talk with her tell her I said Hey! You take care of yourself and it was great to see your letters/reflections.

God bless you Officer Miyares. Your death was not in vain. You are a true hero to your family, your community, and to the nation. There is no greater measure of a man than he lay down his very life to make the world a safer place for others. May you rest in peace...by Linda Taylor Knouse (sister of slain Pensacola Police Officer Stephen A. Taylor, 10/19/82)

Hi Honey, another year without you. Tomorrow will be here as always, this year your mom will come and spend the weekend with us. The grandbabies are all well and growing, Javi (3 yrs old) told Jonathan(17month old) that Grandpa Police was in Heaven helping Santa with the toys, and now when we ask Jonathan about you he looks to the sky and says that you are with (HO,HO,HO) that means Santa in his language, Jovanny is 2 1/2 month and is beautiful just like his brothers, how I wish that you were here to enjoy them as much as we all do.

We love you and wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR IN HEAVEN, say hi to your dad, grandma and the rest of the family up there with you.

love, forever......
your wife, kids and grandkids

To the family and friends of Officer Miyares and his fellow officers, and most especially to Officer Emilio Miyares himself;

On this the nineteeth anniversary week of your brutal murder, please know that you are remembered and honored. Your courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Officer Miyares.

May your family continue to be supported by their law enforcment family, and other police survivors.
Your wife is such an inspiration. I am awed by the strength of her love for you, and how she keeps your memory so alive. You must have had (and still have) such an incredible love for each other and your children. I am also grateful for her work with COPS, it is so beneficial to so many.

I also noticed that your birthday of April 24th in the same day that my son was pronounced dead after having been shot the evening before.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Officer Miyares gave to his community and the citizens of Florida, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on November 6, 1986.

Hi Michele, it has been some time since we have spoken, you know you were always Emilio's little sister, the day he died you were the one sitting next to me while we were going to the cemetery, you might not know but you were part of that family. After so many years, today you are involved with LE, and in someway I hope that maybe is because of Emilio's influence in your life.

take care of yourself and always know that we do care...

God Bless you, Terry/Dania

Hi Teresa. I came across this site and all I could do was cry. I did not cry sad tears, but tears that came from remebering my serrogate family. The Miyares family gave me the best years of my life and for that I am forever grateful. I am who I am because of your family. My life and my spirit were forever changed that day, but not for me. But for the family I loved afterwards I tried to come to terms, it took a while. I couldn't understand how such a wonderful family could go through this. I have never forgotten my surrogate family and was afraid to stay in touch, but you are always with me. My happiest times are with Mami, Papi, Leo, and you Dania. I love you and always will.
