Amazing to find this. Harry is survived by his wife and one child...that child was my grandfather! My dad always told me this story of bravery and heroism growing up.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

Harry Merrill was a distant relative of mine. I served with the Bonneville County Sheriff's office for 24 years and was involved in a few rescues on the Snake River, and spent many days searching for drowning victims. Many Thanks to Deputy Jay Glick for researching and bringing forward the info on Harry. Be careful out there!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
