Reflections for Patrolman Patrick Melia
Patrick was my granduncle also (I see below my 1st cousin, Kathleen Margaret Rooney's entry below 2015).
The full story is heartbreaking. I always hoped to visit Chicago someday since hearing of this story. Often in our thoughts and prayers. August 07, 2021

Patrick "Pakie" Melia is my great uncle and I have the honor of being named after him. We heard stories about him when we were kids growing up. I wish we there were more stories to be heard.

Patrick was my great uncle, my grandmother had brought her little brother over from Galway Ireland to America. I saw this photo for the 1st time today and I am struck by how much my 1st cousin looks so much like him. I can only try to imagine the pain my grandmother felt. God bless his soul. I am sorry that I never knew him.
