Reflections for Patrolman Allen Bruce McLeod, Sr.

Allen Mcleod was by all accounts a hero police officer - years before his death he had disarmed an armed robber. He was a likable guy who showed incredible bravery. He was the first on the scene and was killed before anybody really knew what was happening. His body lay where it fell until NYPD sent a tank to recover the body. A truelt great cop!

I remember that day very clearly. I was only 7 years old and a student at Blessed Sacrament. I still remember watching it on the news as well. I always looked up to you guys. As a little boy, you all seemed to be as tall as the clouds. Thank you so much officer McLeod for serving my childhood community with such bravery. I am now a police officer as well and hope to serve my community as bravely as you. I also see that your son is now a police officer. Please look over him as well as all your other friends in blue. God bless and rest well.

mac, 27 years today marks a very sad day, not only in my life, but in the lives of many others I'm sure. This morning at 07:58 I said a prayer. Just as I have in the years past. Happy Anniversary in heaven. May God watch over and hold you in his hands forever.

Allen, I have missed you. I remember when we were kids and you always wanted to be a policeman, even when we were getting into trouble. You would be real proud of your son Chris as a policeman, and I know you will be looking down on him next week as he gets married. Always thinking about you. Your little sister.

Deputy Dog, That was the nick name we gave him when we started with the Westchester Co Sheriffs dept back in 1970. Every time I see his picture I can rember the day he asked me to run down to mt. vernon to pick him up the Sam Brown that he has on in that picture ,It is a haunting memory. Two days before he died I had the honor of having coffee with him on north ave. when he died it not only changed his familys lives it changed mine as well. His children at the time were about the same age as mine as we talked about them at the davenport apts. he came for the day to wax floors to pick up some extra money. If his children ever read this little note I would like them to know, He was not only my friend. He was one of the best street cops I had ever worked with and still is missed very much.

Allen,
Being a classmate of your son Chris in the 111th session of the Westchester County Police Academy, I feel the need to say thank you. You made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of New Rochelle. Nobody will forget the "St. Valentine's Day Massacare" and what you did. Be proud of your son and remember that your memory will live within him always.
