Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

My Grandfather, his son, James M. McGovern told me about this incident and even showed me the news paper clipping. It is pretty awesome that you have this web site. It was cool being able to read a bit about him. Thank you!

My Father, James R McGovern son of Francis P McGovern told me a little about my Great Grandfather Joseph P McGovern and this incident. I am honoured to have found this site, and pay tribute not only to a great officer, but also to another connection in my family line. May you be smiling from Heaven Great Grandpa as I am smiling up to you. - Scott G. McGovern

My dad, his son, told me about this incident. My son, Officer McGovern's great grandson, found this site. This is very exciting to see his picture and read about his service.

Joseph, You will never be forgotten by your brother and sister officers. Your picture hangs proudly next to the other officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
May you alway rest in peace, and guide us from Heaven above.
