90 years have passed RIP. Your family still think and talk about you. I have a photograph of you in your uniform and you looked very proud. It was so sad that your mother never got to see you, as I know you were planning a trip home to see her.
You are a part of a long line of McDonagh's and we can go back 8 generations.

RIP.. My dad has now joined you in heaven, as has his sister Mary!!

What an awful tragedy for Phelim! Phelim was my Mom's uncle and I remember my Mom always telling us the story when we were little. My Grandmother was Ellen McDonagh from Ireland and Phelim was her brother. My Mom tells us of the story of when her brother John Keeley became a Massachusetts State Trooper that my Grandmother was so worried because of her brother dying in such a tragic way. My Uncle John Keeley went on to become a Major in the MA State Troopers. May you rest in peace Uncle Phelim and know your family still talks about you & misses you.
Ann Marie McDonah - I would love to speak with you since we are related. Please contact me @ [email protected]

I beleive this Phelim to be my dad's uncle who we know was shot in Detroit during an armed raid on a shop. He was born in Letter Ard, Connemara,Co Galway,Eire. His brother John also died in America and both are buried in Portland Maine. His memory lives on and he died trying to protect others, his life was cut short.I currently work for the Metropolitan Police Serice in London, as does my cousin, so the tradition lives on.
