Reflections for Officer William R. McDaniel

Officer McDaniel,
On today, the 90th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Armed Forces-especially during World War I.

This link leads to a memorial I created for Officer McDaniel. It contains the news clippings of the incident, when he was ambushed by a drunk motorist with a rifle. The perpetrator was later killed in a gunfight with a posse in the "Pleasant Valley", now referred to as "Upper Park" in Chico, CA.

Before my career with the CHP, I operated 1185's so it was a special honor to polish your memorial plaque during my time at the academy. Rather than swerve from the path of duty !!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 75th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Rest in peace Valiant Hero, your brave deed has not gone unrecognized.
Every time a bad guy is arrested you must be smiling up there.
I carried on the fight against crime and evil in my time and others that have followed us will carry on the fight from now on.
