Augustus McCann was my grandfather, a man I never had the opportunity to meet. This is so touching to read all of these wonderful reflections. Although I was not an LEO, my son retired after 30 years with the Orange County Sheriff's Office and my grandson was with Orlando Police Department before moving to the Secret Service. I guess some of us followed in my grandfather's footsteps. Thank you to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day for us.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be remembered and revered.
