You would be proud of your granddaughter Kaneata tonight. She kept your legacy alive. She went on a call recently and met a young man, about 12, who's mother had fallen and needed to be transported to the hospital. He was very helpful and mature with the situation. K got a chance to talk to him for a bit and found out he is struggling to stay out of gangs an trouble. The area he live makes it hard to do that for him. During the conversation she found out he liked to go fishing with his uncle, and used that to say away from the trouble in his area. We went out tonight and I helped her pick out a fishing rod and some gear for him. She got it wrapped and we delivered it to him at his home. I cant help but think of you and all the things you did for kids in your career. You would have done the same thing and I see the same spirit in her. I miss you dad Merry Christmas

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 25th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for the solace for all those that love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

Hey Grandpa, just passing by. I'm in college now, just getting my AA, but I'm going into the Air Force and into the Security Forces. That's right I'm going to be a police officer just like you, if the LORD wills it. I am also planning on becoming a volunteer firefighter as well. Anyway just thought I'd fill you in, you probably already know all of this, but anyway love you, see you later.

Hi Grandpa,
Just wanted to let you know that even though I was unable to meet you, you are always in my heart, and I thank you for giving me Dave. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. From what he's told me of you, I've deciphered that he's a lot like you. I'm a lot like Dave, so that means I'm a lot like you, I love to hunt and I'm going to be a police officer just like you. I love you and miss you, see you on the Hill.

Lynden lost one of the nicest police officers who served his community well the night you passed on. May your soul rest in peace and God watch over your family.

20 years ago today I lost you, my best friend, and not a day goes by I don't think about you or draw from what you have taught me. I use your strengths every day as I continue to make decisions that effect peoples lives and property. I don’t think I would have made it to where I am today if I hadn’t had the time I did with you. 20 years ago, seems like yesterday still. My family may not ever get a chance to meet you in life but when they do get there chance in eternity they will need no introduction as they will have lived with your memory every day.
Thanks for all you gave me. We miss you
See you on the hill

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

You would be so proud of your son! He is a great dad and husband. The more stories he tell's of you, the more I realize how much you 2 are alike. I will always feel robbed that I never got to meet the man who gave me such a wonderful husband. Your memory is kept alive, though you are gone.
