Tommy & his family lived next to me in Brea, CA, (they lived in the house I had grown up in until we moved into the bigger one next door) I remember hanging out with my best friend, Tommy’s daughter Nicole, and spending a lot of time at their house. I also remember his big Doberman Pinscher

I met Tommy on two different occasions while he worked narcotics with the Fullerton Police Department. I was assigned to the Los Angeles Police Department narcotics group. I retired in 1999. Tommy was one of a kind. His professional attitude and friendly demeaner made it very easy to listen to him and follow his suggestions in working undercover. Tommy is always on my mind when I see a Fullerton Police Officer patrolling the streets.
May Tommy rest in pease.

To the family of Officer Tommy De La Rosa, my heart and my prayers are with you now and forever. Your loved one paid the ultimate price for protecting and serving the public. Thank you for your sacrafice which I know you never expected. My dad was a La Habra police officer and was shot by an ex LA Sheriff Officer and although he lived that was the beginning of the end of his life. I loved him so much and I miss him more than I ever imagined I could miss someone. Please know that there are MANY people out here that are praying for your entire family and wishing I could take some of the paing away from you. God bless you and God bless Tommy for doing a job that only a certain kind of person can do. I am so sorry for your loss and may God take some of your pain from you...Sincerely Kelly Reese Walters, daughter of Officer John Reese, LHPD. May they both rest in peace!

I was a Cadet at Fullerton and was working that horrible day. I also remember when I took your car to get washed the day of the funeral. It was the best detail a city car ever received. I also remember seeing your eaten sunflower seeds on the floorboards. I saw some today in a vehicle I was using and it got me thinking about you. Kinda like you were passing by and stopping to say hello.
I thought that you were the kind of Officer I wanted to be like. Always respectful and kind to all you passed by. As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, I have followed your example. May god bless your family. Rest in peace Tommy. Btw. Hello Thanks for the reminder

Officer De La Rosa / Tommy as I knew him was a part of my life as a young child. a gentle kind loving man. He was a positive influence in my life. He was renting a room from my family at the time.
I remember he was working at the post office while testing for the Fullerton PD. The day he came home to announce that he passed. He had a grin from ear to ear and could not wait to get started.
The last time I spoke with him was in 1989.
After meny yrs of not having any contact he did not hesitate to be there for me.
My memories of him is and always will be a true warrior. Always watching out for those who may need him.
These reflections have opened up new information about his passing so many unanswered questions after so meny years. It makes you feel better for knowing him. I love and miss him. I know I will see him agian. Im sure he will be working those pearly gates to make sure everything is going to be ok. God Bless my hero til we meet again.

I read your story today sir, and I thank you. Fullerton Police have been in the national news lately and this is how I came to read about you.
If nothing else I know you were a great person, simply by the love your family and friends show in the reflections. I also am inspired By reading about the incident, showing your level of commitment and warrior mindset, by not giving up fighting. Truly admirable sir.
I hope the community of Fullerton is reminded just how dedicated it's Officers truly are. I know I was.
May God bless your family and friends and keep your brothers and sisters safe.
