Reflections for Constable Samuel Claybrooks Locke
Samuel Locke was my great-great-great grandfather, and I've been hearing this family legend for years now. It is such a tragedy that a man performing his duty to his family and his country had to be gunned down. I absolutely love to see that his story is preserved through this foundation as it is truly a hidden gem in Williamson County, and Tennessee State history.

My great (x3) grandfather. They rebuilt the original still and dedicated a place in the Williamson Co. Historical Society museum to him. Two years ago, a historical marker was placed in his honor (at the end of the driveway where he was killed, my grandmother still lives there) By all accounts a good and honest man, gunned down in a cowardly act of revenge. A fascinating part of Williamson Co. history.

Great to honor Locke. However, not at the expense of Truett who was not guilty and exonerated of all charges. Awful to defame a man over 100 years later who cannot defend himself. Cheap shot and slander. The marker and articles should reflect the facts not conjecture and sensationalized story telling. All this to sell books and lectures. Shame on Warwick. Stick to the facts.

Thanks for being a co-worker and best friend to James William Coleman, grandfather to my husband. In honor of that friendship he named a son Sam Locke after you.
