I went to Leighton Littlejohn Elementary school between 1965 and 1969. I vaguely knew the story of Deputy Littlejohn while I was there, and I always had a desire even from that age to be a police officer. I went on to complete a 30 year career as a law enforcement officer in 2011 not very far away. Thank you for your service Deputy Littlejohn

Gone but not forgotten. You were my Grandfather's brother, I can remember when he got on a train in Kansas City to go to your funeral. I went on in life to serve 30 years in Law Enforcement...25 of those as a Deputy Sheriff. Looks like I've got some relatives I've never heard of commenting on here. I'd love to meet you!

He is my great grandfather whom I never got to met. I grew up on stories about him from is widow Helen.. I did name my daughter after him. Great Grammy Helen was my favorite grandparent. She lived with my daughter and I until her passing in 1999.

You were my grandmother's youngest brother. Though we never met, I heard about my Great Uncle Leighton all the years I was growing up. I wish I'd known you.

I WENT to the elementary school named in your honor. I walked by your picture every day. I knew I wanted to become a peace officer, because it was as though you spoke to me from beyond the grave.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 55th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

I never met my Great Uncle Leighton. But my aunts, who were his nieces, knew him pretty well and think the world of him. He was kind and caring and will always be missed.
