Reflections for Patrolman John Frank Norcross

John,

Thank you for looking down on your Brothers on this 12th anniversary of your EOW. My boy will soon be 12 years old, and talks about wanting to be a police officer. I took him to Washington, DC. We sat by the Wall, and touched your name etched in marble. I told him that you were a fun loving guy, who liked Camaros, and was a true hero. Please keep an eye on him from up there.

I attended a seminar where your brother shared your story. The story on this website does not compare to hearing your brother speak. He painted a picture of that horrible day.It made me feel like I was there. It sounded like something you would see in a movie, not something that could actually happen. I know that you are watching over him as he shares his experience with others. Your entire family should be so proud of his courage to stand up and speak over and over, reliving this tragedy so he can help fellow officers that could be faced with the same. While I sit on the other side of the radio, I am still affected by all this. My department had a loss little over a year ago, Deputy Brandy Winfield. He was also a friend and very much missed. As your brother spoke about, things like this affect not just the officers but the entire department and community. He showed us the memorial set up for you and Jack McLaughlin in Haddon Heights. It shows that you will never be forgotten. I was truly touched by this story and your brothers courage to stay strong. He has not let tragedy take him down. You and Jack will live on forever through your brother. Thank you Richard. I have never felt honored to attend a seminar as I did the other day. You are a hero in my eyes. God Bless you and your family.

Rest in Peace Officer Norcross.

PATROLMAN NORCROSS, YOU REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND. I SALUTE YOU! YOU DID NOT LOSE YOUR LIFE, YOU GAVE IT IN SERVICE TO OTHERS. A TRUE HERO INDEED.

TODAY I READ IN THE PAPER HOW YOUR KILLER WAS NAMED INMATE OF THE MONTH IN THE PRISON WHERE THIS COP KILLER IS HELD. WHAT AN OUTRAGE!!! HOW OUR DEPT OF CORRECTIONS CAN "HONOR" AN INMATE, MUCH LESS A COP KILLER, IS FAR BEYOND ME.

IN HONOR OF ALL PEACE OFFICERS KILLED BY THESE ANIMALS, I WILL BE ONE OF THE CITIZENS OF NEW JERSEY WHO EXPRESS MY OUTRAGE TO THE DOC AND THE STATE.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE HERO.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Today, April 20, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Patrolman John Frank Norcross and Investigator John D. McLaughlin who died in the line of duty on this date ten years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Patrolman Norcross and Investigator McLaughlin's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today I attended a seminar that had your brother speak about the incident and the effects it had on him and others. Your brother had great courage to talk so openly about his loss and to allow us into his life. Your brother and family continue the fight for you. Rest in peace.

I am a Deputy Sheriff and work where this officers parents relocated to. His father was on jury duty in the county I work in and I was in court that week as a baliff, His father cried in open court when he talked about his son's death, I must say it brought tears to the eyes of every court officer, clerks and deputies. After court I went and looked him up to see what happened and see who this special man was. Your memory has not gone and is very much alive, I now think of you all the time and the affect it has had on your family. I pray that your family can rest with some peace and I know from the way your father talked you were a special person. Rest in peace my brother, we will walk the streets of heaven with you one day.

John, I want you to know that you've not only left your imprint in our small community, but your sacrifice also changed how I treat everybody and everything that comes into my life. Never again will I take today for granted; there may never be a tomorrow! For that short time I knew you, you proved what it's like to be a conscientious officer; dedicated to your job and our town. Equally important, I couldn't find a better, funnier person whom I can say was my friend. Your ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. We all miss you.
