Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifteenth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I hold your family in my heart's embrace today.

Bob,
Your death came just prior to my being hired by NBPD. Please know that you are still remembered fondly. We gather regularly at "Henry's Place" which was created in your honor for us cops to gather and tell the same stories we always tell. I wish I had the priveledge to serve with you.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I cannot believe that Bob is gone. I worked with him years and years ago at Gemco - everyone there was like family. Bob was always such a special person, so kind. My heart goes out to your family.

On this, the 12th anniversary of your passing, we pause to remember.
No words, written or spoken, can fill the void you left.
You died serving your community. I know of no higher calling.
May the officers serving with the Newport Beach Police department, your friends and family, know that it is in Officer Henry's memory that we continue to serve.

Robert,
I remember reading of you in the paper the day after your death. I recall the feeling of anger and frustration as I read about this senseless murder. I was not yet a police officer, but the reading of your passing made me more determined to press forward and to pick up where you left us. I have been a police officer now for 10 years. Hanging in my locker is a blue memorial wrist band which was made in memory of you. Each day at work when I am putting on my uniform, I look at that band and I am mindful of the memory of you and your sacrifice. I am now walking where you once led. Rest in peace my brother and you will be in my heart until my last breath..

Although your reflection doesnt have your age, you look very young. God bless your family and friends. What a terrible journey they have been on for so long. I pray that they will heal and trust in God's plan that he needed you.
God speed sir.

I would like to thank all of you who have written here and remembered my little brother...
He was a great man, friend, and brother and he is greatly missed.
He was not perfect, but he loved greatly and was greatly loved. He was my best friend in the whole world, and even after 11 years, I still miss him more than I could have ever imagined... The Great Healer has closed most of the open wounds in our hearts - but the scars still hurt at times.
For those of you who lost Bob too, my prayers are with you as well.
For those of you who have lost family in the same way, may the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ richly bless and keep you His tender care.
Thank you all again for your prayers, kind words and encouragement over the years... It has meant more than words could ever say...
Bill Henry, Bob's big bro...

Bob Henry, I can’t believe it’s been over 11 years since you were killed. I remember I was a young police officer and your death was such big news. The first police officer’s funeral I went to was yours. I remember it was a celebration of your life and remember how brave and beautiful your family was. I couldn’t stop crying. What a shame. Well sir, you and your family will always be in my prayers. Keep guarding the gates of heaven for us. God Bless!

On this the eleventh anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.
My heart goes out to all of your family members during this time. You all remain in our thoughts and our prayers.
Looking at your beautiful photograph makes me so sad that you had to lose your life at such a young age. How your family must miss you and your radiant smile.
Officer Henry, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
