John, we went through the academy together. I was there the night you died, I watched the helicopter burn atop Iverson Mall. I stood with Sgt Billy Hicks and Cpl. John Parker and watched and could do nothing for you but grieve. God Bless

John,
The night you died, was my last night working for P.G. County. You were asking me all about moving to Minnesota and just seemed so at ease, leaning one foot against the wall behind you. Then, a call came and you said, "I've got to go." That was it. I have grown old while you stayed young in my mind. You were a good guy, a good friend, a great cop. Karen Tuttle

OH, I HAVE SLIPPED THE SURLY BONDS OF EARTH, AND DANCED THE SKIES ON LAUGHTER-SILVERED WINGS; SUNWARD I'VE CLIMED, AND JOINED THE TUMBLING MIRTH OF SUN-SPLIT CLOUDS...AND DONE A HUNDRED THINGS YOU HAVE NOT DREAMED OF...WHEELED AND SOARED AND SWUNG HIGH IN THE SUNLIT SILENCE. HOVERING THERE, I'VE CHASED THE SHOUTING WIND ALONG, AND FLUNG MY EAGER CRAFT THROUGH FOOTLESS HALLS OF AIR, UP,UP, THE LONG, DELIRIOUS BURNING BLUE I'VE TOPPED THE WINDSWEPT HEIGHTS WITH EASY GRACE WHERE NEVER LARK, NOR EVEN EAGLE FLEW. AND WHILE WITH SILENT, LIFTING MIND I'VE TROD THE HIGH UNTRESPASSED SANCTITY OF SPACE......PUT OUT MY HAND, AND TOUCHED THE FACE OF GOD. (HIGH FLIGHT by JOHN GILLESPIE MAGEE JR.)

Brother Leatherbury,
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Respectfully,
