Reflections for Police Officer Seymour H. Lawler

Thoughts this police week of my Great Uncle Seymour brother of my paternal Grandmother Ruth Estelle Lawler Brown. My father Otis Lawler Brown. I remember my father and grandmother telling how awful his death was. Borrowing a car to make a fast trip from Louisville to Detroit. Sadly I was never able to know him. Gone too soon.

To My Great Grandfather I never had the chance to meet,

Your daughter, who lost you roughly 80 years ago, grew to become my grandmother, namely Grandma Jo. She was everything a grandmother could and should be, and so much more. She happily served as a second mother to me, and taught me so much. She left this Earth ten short days ago on 11/24/2017, joining you and my grandfather Donald. Honorable, good people, to whom I was lucky to have in my life and influence me. Thank you.

I have added Grand Uncle Seymour to our Hall of Fame for our family reunion. I have learn so much about him in looking for my Grandmothers Sister Ruby. My grandmother was Callie Beatrice Climer Cassity. I wish I had known them both and the children. My mother is still alive and talks often of all of them. She will be 97 This year.

RIP to both Great Grandfathers. I am a grandson of Joseph and Betty Lawler, they had 4 sons and 1 daughter. I'm the only son (Shane) from there daughter Debbie. I heard stories about my great grandpa's, and this has helped inspire me to keep the family tradition going. My uncle Don, was also Dearborn Police Officer as well, I'm currently living in Arkansas, trying to pursue a career in law enforcement.

My name is Patricia, I am the granddaughter of Seymour Lawler and Ruby Climber, and the grand neice of Hiram Reno. Officer Reno's daughter Betty Reno married my Uncle Joseph Lawler, my dad was Seymour's oldest son, Jack Hubert Manual Lawler, all are now deceased.

Seymour and Ruby also had a daughter, Josephine, twin of Joseph. Aunt Jo still lives in Michigan, near Detroit.

Knowing my grandfather served and died in the line of duty, has given me great respect, pride and love for all those who serve our country, especially those in uniform. God Bless America!
