A memorial was dedicated to Officer Lauer at St. Boniface Cemetery in Chicago on 10-29-02. It was noted with photo in the Chicago Tribune 10/30/02 and attended by several of Officer Lauer's relatives. He was the first Chicago officer killed in the line of duty.
