Peter Lantermo was my Uncle. He was so very missed by the entire family. His wife Eunice and son Peter (Todd) have since passed away. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with Andrew Pate about what he remembers of the incident. We visited Refugio several years ago and met the Chief who told me he use to caddy for Uncle Pete.

Are Deputy Lantermo's wife and son still living? I grew up in Refugio and remember this incident quite vividly.

You have always been a hero to me. I was just a child when the chance of growing up knowing you was taken away. I fully understand the sacrifices all the men and women of Law Enforcement deal with on a daily basis. I have only a few things of yours that were passed down, but they mean the world to me. Your worn headstone was replaced with one that honors your memory. God Bless you Uncle Pete, you are not forgotten.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. I am privileged to pay tribute to you. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 62nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know that both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Rest In Peace.
