I too was a child when Trooper Langham was killed. My grandparents have lived near Collins their whole lives. I have driven past the memorial more times than I can count. I remember asking my grandfather about it. He would recount the tragedy every time I would ask. I can tell all, Trooper Langham is still remembered today. People in the community speak of him with great reverence. I am now a Federal Agent, and think of Trooper Langham every time I go to Collins.

I was just a small boy when this tragic event took place, though I remember it like it was yesterday. Trooper Langham was a hero to me by just being in law enforcement. It then became my dream and ambition to become a law enforcement agent. His death only encourged me more, because it made me want to go out and try to bring these senseless deaths to a halt. I lived just 1 1/2 miles from where the murder took place and today there is a memorial at the place where the crime was committed. Trooper Langham's story was then told on Real stories of the Highway Patrol in 1997. May you rest in peace TROOPER LANGHAM, you are my hero. God bless your family. 11/21/02
