Steve,
It has been 12 years since that fateful day. I am sorry to say that I never knew you, but according to everyone at FCSO and your brother, I know you were a good man. I hope you can see your neice and nephew, keep watch over them. Your family is very proud of you. Rest In Peace, Brother!

Well Steve, its been alomst 12 years. And now, almost 12 years later, we've lost another one, Sgt Howard Plouff...it just dosen't make any sense. I've often wondered why you and not me...we both worked the same area...both had been to Brownsboro Road many times. You were so young and just married...me, a lot older with almost grown kids. You still had a lot of life left for you...more that I did. I just don't understand it.
I visit your grave often...I leave you a bullet every time. You were, are, and always will be missed.
Rest in peace, brother.

You were thought of often at the 15 year reunion of Class 30. Miss you.

To Detective Amos:
Thank you for your kind words about Larry. He had two wonderful careers he loved: Captain in the USMC and patrol officer with the Pittsburg PD.
In addition to sharing the Marine and law enforcement bond, we also share a Tarheel connection. Our family is originally from North Carolina. I moved to California when Larry was six years old so both of us are Carolina natives. We still have so much family there and love to visit at home.
Maybe one day our paths will cross in person.
God bless you and Stephen. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Ten years...my how time flies. I remember you Steve, as a little boy growing up in Walkertown. My family has known your family for years...and then all of a sudden, you grew up and became a cop. We rode together on several occasions while you were in training....I've often wondered if there was something that I could have taught you or passed on to you that might have kept you alive that day. If there was, I hope you have forgiven me by now. We miss you Steve...there isn't a day that I don't pass your picture in the hallway at PSC and wonder where you would have been now if you had lived. And it may be wrong to say this, but there isn't a day that I pass your picture that I don't curse George Page.

Stephen,
I just wanted to let you know that you are not forgotten. I think of you often as I pass your house. I etched your name from the memorial wall in DC back in May, at the same time I etched my Daddy's for the first time. Your friends still miss you and speak of you often, and your mom is just a vibrant as always! She's such a strong woman! Tell Daddy hello--- we miss him so much. Thank you for all you did, and God bless.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....

I have known Steve and his family for many years. He even rode with me in a training status several times. I often wonder if there was something I didn't stress to him that maybe I should have....what a senseless death.
