To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 68th anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.
My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Although I never met my grandfather, as my mother never met her father, his early death has had a profound impact on those he left behind. I can't help but wonder what might have been had he not been lost so soon.

My young age at the time of his death has left me with not knowing him. The memory of others of my father has not faded these past 60 year due to people like Mr. Walter Johnson and others throughout the years expressing their recollection of him in such a positive way, has given my a better view of his life and what a great man he actually was. He truely is and always will be ..my hero. John Laird, DSFC, NJSP (retired)
