My dear Martin ...how much I have learned about your heroic sacrifices from newspapers accounts of the time, my genealogical research and the thoughtful collection of this website. I am honored to be related ...and it is my hope that my research will continue to keep your actions and memory alive.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirty first anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

Martin I found out today that you and I are related. It brings me a great deal pride in knowing that someone in our family gave the ultimate sacrifice for his community. I am so very proud of you. You should know that as young man there were relatives that still talked about the brave man who died in the line of duty. You have been gone one hundred and thirty years but we finally found you.
Thank you for giving me life.
