Reflections for Officer David L. Kohler

Motor Office #5 was my father. He loved his profession and was always looking to make the lives of all SMPD officers better. One of his fellow officers said of him, "You always felt better when Officer Kohler pulled up on an incident because, while he was a big man, he was also a peace maker." He was only 29 years old and had his entire life (which he loved) in front of him.

I still miss him ....

I never met you Sir. I sure wish I had. I am privileged to know your children, Catherine, Robin and David. All my life Catherine has been my best friend. You have some of the most remarkable children and they love and cherish you everyday. I am so honored to be a part of your family who I love as mine. Thank you for your service sir. Your daughter Catherine is soon to retire from Los Alamitos Police Dept. I know you will be there in spirit.

You are my father and I am so proud of WHO you were and WHAT you stood for. I have missed you every day since your EOW in 1960 and have lived my life in a way that I hoped you'd be proud of ... And you would so love your grand kids!!

I love you!!
