Dear Great-Grandpa,
I am so proud to be surrounded by your legacy: your son, your grandsons, and now your great-grandsons have chosen to continue in your footsteps in service to the community and the country. Your service to the City of New York, and to this family, is invaluable. I know that in heaven you are looking down upon us with pride and laughter with Grandpa by your side. Please watch over my older brother as he graduates from the Academy next month and does his best to protect the citizens of New York. He works hard to live up to your precedent.
Please guide us all in everything we do with a firm but loving and forgiving hand.
It's good to know we've got a couple of good old-fashioned cops up there with the Big Man, pulling for us!
We love you, and you will never be forgotten.
Love,
Colleen

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 64th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
How proud you must be that so many of your family continued your legacy of protecting and serving.

Grandpa,
Because of your heroic actions that day in 1946 you saved many lives and exhibited character only few people can claim.
Although I never knew you, I am sure that you would be proud that your only son, Richard, carried on your legacy to serve honorably with the NYPD as an Emergency Service Unit officer just as yourself. Additionally, our four grandsons, Peter, Richard, Thomas and John also became Police Officers as well. Finally, your great-grandson, Craig, is proudly serving his country as a United States Army Airborne Ranger and looks forward to the day he can wear a badge too.
Because of your courage and integrity you set an indelible example for your family, one that your can be proud of and carries through to this day!
Love, Pete
