Reflections for Officer Kenneth Michael Kennedy

It is with tears in my eyes that I write this message. Officer Kennedy was my uncle that I never had the opportunity to know or love. I am glad that he is not forgotten and that people remember how he served his community. He sounds like a wonderful man who my mother speaks very highly of. My own husband is a police officer and I pray every day for his safety and of all law enforcement officers who place themselves in danger to protect the citizens of their community.

I was 9 years old when awaken in the middle of the night and told that my brother, Michael Coldren, had been shot.
Thanks to Officer Kennedy's quick action my brother recoverd from his injuries, but our family has never forgotten.
Our family thanks you Officer Kenneth Kennedy for your sacrifice and your service to this community. And we will never forget.

I would like to say thank you to Officer Kennedy for his service, bravery, courage, and ultimate sacrifice for the people of this city. I was too young to have known Officer Kennedy, but those who worked with him describe him as an honest, hard-working, and respectful man of integrity who loved his job, and was proud serve his community. Thank you Ken; may your sacrifice and tremendous service never be forgotten.

I too, am disappointed that no one from Hutchinson PD has left a message of prayer or gratitude. I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of Ofc. Kennedy. Thank you Ofc. Kennedy for your sacrafice and service to your community. Rest In Peace.

I find it troubling that not one single officer or supervisor with either the past or present Hutchinson Police Department has left a reflection in your honor. There's a small green sign posted on the side of the highway coming into Hutchinson that states "Ken Kennedy Freeway" in your honor. Though it's hardly big enough to read, I've noticed it on many occasions before. I suppose the community has long forgotten you, but perhaps that's because it was so long ago. Though you were taken from this world before I was old enough to walk, I will always remember you and the ultimate sacrifice you made. Rest in peace, officer.

I just read this offense that occurred approximately 33 years ago and it was such a tragic story. I also noticed that there were no reflections posted. It is my honor to be the first to say thanks for the ultimate sacrifice. The world is a safer place because of true heroes like Officer Kennedy. We will never forget men and women like him that gave so unselfishly. God's blessings on his family.
