Reflections for Police Officer Raymond R. Cannon, Jr.
I cannot not beleive it has been 20 years today, We miss your smile and your laughter. Their isn't one time that the family is together that you are not deeply missed. I would like to personally thank the NYPD for the support and love we have felt over the years. When they said they would never forget, they have shown that to us.
Love Always,
Your Sister-n-law

Today is Kevin Gillespie,s birthday. It made me think of you . I'm so sorry I wasn't there to back you up. I was working a 4x12 that day . My heart was broken, and I will never forget you brother. Your partner is a hero , God bless him and shame on the nypd
for waiting for a looser captain to ensure these scumbags came out alive.....shame.

I remember that day ALL TOO WELL. You were basically ambushed and given NO chance to defend yourself. And you were WAY TOO YOUNG. I also remember, ALL TOO WELL, the great pains this job took to make sure nothing happened to the perps by sending the chief of ESU down into the basement with the ESU search team. So now, they're living in a federal prison, 3 square a day, Cable TV, workout rooms and the best medical care this country has to offer. And one day, they will be eligible for parole. And where are you Ray? Well, one thing is for CERTAIN, as you can see here 18 years later....YOU will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN...R.I.P. young Ray.....

I was there that day with my partner John Colwell, Police work in N.Y. at that time(and in general) was hours of mindless boredom to instant seconds of chaotic hell, Ray Cannon paid the ultimate sacrifice for the people of New York, I will never forget that day and nor should the people forget Ray Cannon.

Ray,
I just got home from the cemetery, this is a very hard day for those who knew and loved you. People say dealing with the death of a loved one gets easier with time, I have to say I don't agree. This is as hard for me 17 years later as the day it happened. Thinking about the good times we had always puts a smile on my face but I cannot begin to explain the hurt that I still feel each and every day. God Bless you.

Ray,
There isn't a Thanksgiving or Christmas that I don't think about you and all the guys. We had so many great times together. Working at the mall, summer nights at my parents pool, the Hamptons after prom and even the time we returned the dog. You & Mike were some pair. Rest in peace my friend. Love Rooney

Well it's 10/15/2010, 20 yrs ago today you and me were sworn in as New York City Police Officers, you with NYPD and me with NYC Housing PD. We were living our dreams! I still remember the day you convinced me to take the test, you got me so motivated! I remember how happy we were to finally get called, the endless conversations on the phone talking about the academy, we even talked about it at the gym! After graduation we would go to the shooting range to practice and then clean our guns together. I can't believe how fast the time went by! In December you will be gone 16 yrs. and not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I'd give anything to have you back! God bless you, you're my hero!

Growing up we always filled the streets with hockey nets and gear. In the winter months there wasn't a pond around that we did not skate on from sun rise to sun set. Its been over 20 yrs since we skated together and its seems like yesterday we were tearing it up. I still remember that beer we shared over Thanksgiving. Who would have known that would be the last time I would see you.
So how I know you found the rink up there and you are skating everyday. Rest in Peace my friend.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 15th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you, especially your family. The pain and pride are forever.
