Rest in Peace, Officer Pollard. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Officer 11169

I worked in the holding facility during the time Steve was still with us. He was one of the best, and it was a honor to have known him. Rest in peace Steve.

Brother Pollard,
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

I have just stumbled upon this page and I just wanted to leave a reflection on the awesome person that Stevie was. He was taken from our family way to young. In our family all of us cousins grew up together, we were all more like brothers and sisters than cousins and he was definitely a very protective big brother. He was older than me so I knew he would always be my protector. He was the best cousin any of us could have asked for. I miss him terribly, this month it will be 11 years since he was take from us. It seems like just yesterday that he was coming to our family gatherings and everyone laugh. Stevie was one in a million and I know that he watches down on all of those who take on the brave job of keeping our world safe.

I knew Steve when I was a Circle K clerk on the graveyard shift at Val Vista and Broadway in Mesa. Steve would do a nightly security check on me. We had talked about my interest in Law Enforcement and maybe applying for Mesa PD. I never did apply with Mesa PD but, he did have an influence on me. I have been with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office for almost 6 years now. I have been dispatching for almost 4 of those years. Steve was a wonderful and caring man. I will never forget him.

Steve,
I wish I would have had the opportinuty to know Officer Pollard. I am reminded everyday of the sacrafice he made. Steve was the first and only Mesa Police Officer to give his life in the line of duty. Steve had been gone nearly five years when I entered the academy, but I felt his presence immediately. His picture is displayed at our stations as a reminder of how he was taken from us. I'm sure I speak for every Mesa Officer in saying that we know Steve is till with us. Steve, there has been so many times when I've advised on a call, looked over and saw you standing next to me with a smile on your face. You are an inspiration to me, and I hope that you are proud of the officers that continue to serve here without you. Watch over us Steve, and know that we will never forget you.
