This week marks the 85th anniversary of the shooting that took your life and that of your partner. I am your oldest great-grandchild, Terry George, grandson of your son Tom. Though I met her as a baby, I do not remember my great grandmother. I do, however, remember well my Grandpa Tom and your daughter Ruth. They both felt your loss deeply their entire lives. Even after 50 years, Ruth refused to speak with reporters that wanted to ask her about that terrible crime. In spite of that trauma, they went on to raise their families well. Your grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren are teachers, engineers, social workers, diplomats and businesspeople. They are good parents and good people. They have traveled and lived all over the world, from Bridgeport to California and Afghanistan to Uganda. Your killer may have taken your life, but he could not take your legacy.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

After reading the tribute from your Grandson, it should make all who visit this web site know how important is is to leave a rememberance for every officer that we have lost.

For the families that have lost an officer in the line of duty it must (hopefully) give some comfort in knowing their loved ones are remembered.

Sgt you are remembered today and thank you Sir for you service.

Although we never met, you live on in loving memory. You witnessed your son Thomas James Kearney graduate in 1934 from the University of Detroit; and later he married my mother Bernice Dinan. Grandma Marie visited us in Detroit often. Bernice passed away in 1966 and Thomas James in 1976. I am your grandson, Thomas Dinan Kearney, born in 1951 in Detroit, but moved to Connecticut in 1995 in time to become better acquainted with your daughter, Ruth and the families of her sons Bob and Dick. My sisters Anne, Kathy & Pat(who died in 1965), have continued your legacy; as I have with my wife Cynthia and our children Ricardo, Timothy, and Natalia. Your memory lives on and we pray for all who have gone before us and for many more generations to follow. We will never forget.
