In 1965 Ron and Don Hedbany and I became the best of Friends. We all went to Glen Park Middle School, New Berlin High School and UW Whitewater together. It was the best of times having the twins as best Friends and we had a blast together riding motofcycles, going on adventures all over WI and MN. We were great wrestling fans and went to the matches in Milwaukee. We were wrestling fans before wrestling was cool. Ron could imitate the Dr X character perfectly and was a Bobby Heenan fan. How I miss those days and the fun times we had right up to his last day in this cruel world when Ronald Ennis Hedbany was taken away way too soon, Ron was a dedicated cop and did not deserve to die. God Bless you Ron and Good Bless all Law Enforcement Officers.

Although I never knew Officer Ronald Hedbany I have worked with his brother Donald Hedbany for many years.
His brother has talked very highly of his twin brother and I know how much he misses him as there is a special bond between twins.
It takes a special person to be a police officer and after knowing Don for all these years and how highly Don talked about him, he was that special person. Rest in peace Officer Ronald Hedbany

I was a bag boy at Sentry Foods on Port Washington and Calumet rd. I remember Officer Hedbany come through my line for morning doughnut. The years past not thinking of the so many times I said good morning to him, was until his life was taken... I remember him as a gentle and soft soul. All these years later my memory of him at Sentry is most vivid of all. I think of him all the time and I don't why. So glad I finally can share this to all that care and miss him. Rest easy and thankyou.

I came to read your story today, Officer Ronald Hedbany, after my husband and I met your brother yesterday. We were attending a funeral of another fallen officer tragically taken too soon. We came as survivors to pay our respects and give support to the new survivors. That's what we survivors do now. Your story, my son's story and the officer we were paying respects to are all too similarly heartbreaking and tragic. Good men. I thank you Officer Hedbany for your bravery and dedication to protect and serve. You will never be forgotten.

Never Take For Granted What You've Got. Because You Never Know. The Next Day, You Might Not Have It, So,

THE TIME IS NOW

IF YOU ARE EVER GOING TO LOVE ME,
LOVE ME NOW, WHILE I CAN KNOW
THE SWEET AND TENDER FEELINGS
WHICH FROM TRUE AFFECTION FLOW.

LOVE ME NOW
WHILE I AM LIVING.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL I'M GONE
AND THEN HAVE IT CHISELED IN MARBLE,
SWEET WORDS ON ICE - COLD STONE.
IF YOU HAVE ANY TENDER THOUGHTS OF ME,
PLEASE TELL ME NOW.
IF YOU WAIT UNTIL I AM SLEEPING,
NEVER TO AWAKEN,
THERE WILL BE DEATH BETWEEN US,
AND I WON'T HEAR YOU THEN.

SO,IF YOU LOVE ME, EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT,
LET ME KNOW IT WHILE I AM LIVING
SO I CAN TREASURE IT.

Ron, a couple of days ago I posted on my face book page about the up coming 20 th anniversary of you passing. We have not forgotten. In the days befor field training officers new guys rode along with different experienced officers. I was with you when we chased a burglar west bound through the Long Island subdivision. Somehow we became separated and when the suspect jumped the fence you got him. It was your first felony arrest. I was impressed and scared because I was separated from you by the fence and couldn t help. By the time I got over the fence he was in custody. I went on to supervise you (if that was possible) when I made set. So sorry I wasn't there that final day. I would have tried to make a difference. I did visit your grave about two years ago. God bless you. Rick

I remember working with Ron. He seemed to be a somewhat shy guy but always ready for a little fun and laughs. I hope he has seen some of the other officers that have also passed on to the big PD in the sky. RIP Ron. You will always be in our memories.

Ron, I can't believe that it is over 18 years. Your brother Donald has kept in contact with our department. Every time he would walk into the pd everyone would spin their heads because you both look so much alike. Rom you are missed by many stillon the job. You would be retired by, and I'm sorry that you won't know what it is like. Rest in peace my friend.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
