Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Warden Charles Andrew Farquhar, Jr.

Warden Farquhar,
On today, the 30th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Great man with great sons

Retired Warden III

You are remembered today by a mother of a fallen officer. My son, Larry Lasater died when shot on April 23, 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers while serving with the Pittsburg, California Police Department.

Charles, your sacrifice is not forgotten. Rest in Peace. Your memory and that of your wife is honored and revered 16 years after your death and will continue to be. How awful for your sons to lose both parents like this, and I pray for their solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Charles gave to his community and the citizens of Alabama, and the supreme sacrifice he, his wife and his family made on October 23, 1994.

I miss Mr. Charlie so much still. He was my friend. He was a wonderful respected man. I would visit my husband as a prisoner there. Mr. Charlie would alway come to his office just so I could go in & aggravate him. We had a special bond & fifteen years later I still miss him &his gruff smiles. I loved him as a wonderful friend as I did his wife. He will never be replaced in our hearts nor memories. I miss you all and you are never far from my heart & mind after all these years. I hope your sons & guards read this & know he was respected & loved.

My heart to them,

DAY IS DONE
GONE THE SUN,
FROM THE HILLS, FROM THE LAKE, FROM THE SKIES.
ALL IS WELL SAFELY REST,
GOD IS NIGH.

GO TO SLEEP, PEACEFUL SLEEP,
MAY THE SOLDIER, OR THE SAILOR, GOD KEEP.
ON THE LAND OR THE DEEP,
SAFE IN SLEEP.

LOVE, GOOD NIGHTM,
MUST THOU GO,
WHEN THE DAY, AND THE NIGHT NEED THEE SO?
ALL IS WELL, SPEEDETH ALL
TO THEIR REST.

FADES THE LIGHT;
AND AFAR
GOETH DAY, AND THE STARS SHINETH BRIGHT,
FARE THEE WELL; DAY IS GONE,
NIGHT IS ON.

THANKS AND PRAISE,
FOR OUR DAYS,
'NEATH THE SUN, 'NEATH THE STARS, 'NEATH THE SKY.
AS WE GO THIS WE KNOW,
GOD IS NIGH.

It is said that EVIL flourishes when good men do nothing.

To the family of this brave Officer who gave all so that others might live, I extend my deepest sympathy and gratitude for your continued sacrifice.

To those of us who were left behind who still wear the badge, the mission continues... tomorrow is another Tour Of Duty... May God comfort you with the knowledge that you DO make a differance.
