Reflections for Patrolman Eugene Garland Jones
Reflecting back on this Great man honored, he was taken away too soon and only a few weeks after the birth of his 9th child, my mother. She never got to know her dad, but knew and never forgot of his bravery and dedication as a police officer and now at almost 95 and the last surviving of her 8 siblings, we still sit and talk about the day he was taken from this earth. One day they will meet and rejoice. He would have been so proud of the beautiful woman you grew into and your loving heart. Love you Mama.

I am your great granddaughter. Your oldest daughter Selma was my grandmother. Your wife, who I remember as Ma Jones, was an incredible person as well. I am so proud of my heritage and will keep your memories alive forever.

So nice to see this.
Patrolman Jones was my Grandfather who I did not have a chance to meet.
My father, Andrew shared the difficulties he, his mother Bessie, brother Gene, sisters Selma, Francis, Ethyl, Margret, Hazel, Daisy, and Mildred shared after their Fathers death. They were all small children.
Patrolman Jones had 20 Grandchildren.
My Sincere Thanks,
Larry E. Jones

God Bless Officer Jones my grandfather I never met and a father my mom never met, but is so proud of for his for his bravery and dedication and giving his life in the line of duty to this very day.
She was highlighted in the news and paper in Greenville NC yesterday as a special guest at this years Dedication Memorial service for our fallen officers of Pitt Co. My mom at 84 is still so proud of her Dad and his stories handed down through the years and of her Mom Bessie Jones who managed to raise 9 children as a single mom and widow during the Depression. Bessie Jones lived to be 94 and I still miss her, because she was the center of all our lives until the day she passed away.
Her love of family, kids and grandkids, and family gatherings has passed on to my mother and as my daughter and son will tell you daily about Mildred Jones Daniel. " Mammie is the best Grandmother in the whole world, I love that Mammie"
I as one of the many grandchildren only new Bessie Jones wife of fallen officer Eugene Jones, as my only grandparent. My father, Maj.Plummer Alston Daniel, served in WWII, parents died when he was only 16. I wish I could have met all these wonderful people. My Dad died many years ago of cancer and I miss him and wish he could have met his grandkids. God Bless them all!

This was my grandfather, my grandmother raised those nine children to become successful members of society. She was a strong, spunky little woman who lived to almost 94 years old.

My daddy, your son Andrew, told me stories of how you would put him on your shoulders and walk thru the woods looking for moonshiners..He was only 10 when you left..It left a huge void in his life..He really missed you. He grew up to look just like you, Even though you are gone..and we never met, you are not forgotten.
