Reflections for Patrolman Francis B. Johnson

Dad, Christmas was your favorite Holiday. Silver Bells was your favorite song. Mom would tell us that every year. Miss you both. Merry Christmas! Love your family...

Dad, Although I have lived most of my life without you, I still have memories of your love and affection. Growing up without you has been a lifetime filled of what if's. I try my best to be a mother that you would be proud to call your daughter. I know in my heart that you are watching over us. Until we meet again ... Ptl. Johnson, today marks the 38th anniversary of your murder. You have not been forgotten and I know you have never left the sides of those who know and love you. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the people of Boston and the Commonwealth.

There is some comfort in knowing your murderer has never been granted parole.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

When I was a boy, I distinctly remember the day Patrolman Johnson was killed and it has never left my memory. I lived in Framingham and looked up to Boston Police Officers. I remember with shock the news broadcast showing an officer walking out of the tavern carrying Patrolman Johnson's white traffic cap. If this may be of any solace to his family or friends, I have never forgotten this heinous crime and will never forget it. As a priest who serves police officers, Patrolman Johnson will be in my prayers. Sir, you are not forgotten.
