Reflections for Sheriff Dave Johnson

I wasn't born yet but have met people you crossed paths with and through their stories I came to know you and a respect for the brave person behind the badge. One story came from a fellow bar mate, he remembered how you carried butterscotch kisses in your overalls for the kids, once you chased him and a buddy away from a farmers pond so you could fish. I was also told that you never bought a watermelon, you bet on anything and the wager was a melon,.
Really feel I missed out on someone wonderful!

Researching your community I discovered the sacrifice you made. I always enjoyed hearing stories about how things were back in the "good old days" and I bet you had some great stories. I just want you and your family to know that people outside your community appreciate your dedication to the safety of the people you serve. I hope to meet some of your family soon during my travels around our great country.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
God Bless

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 51rst anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting you, I have been filled with your presence. I was born in 1965 so I never heard your booming voice, yet I have heard a million of your stories. You were a true gentleman! I did know Grandma J and she was a saint. I know you are in heaven with your entire immediate family. Please continue to watch over us and keep us safe. Until my dying day, I will try my best to make you as proud of us as we are of you. Love you Grandpa J!

Grandpa, You were gone before I was born, but I have kept your name close to my heart and retell your story to educate those around me of what a gentle soul can do. I've met many who knew you or grew up knowing of you and they all miss "The Gentle Giant" who always had a smile and a butterscotch kiss for them, and never needed his gun to get his point across. We Love You and Wish we could've known you.
