Reflections for Officer James E. Jobe

Officer Jobe, You are not forgotten by the men and women of Massachusetts Law Enforcement. RIP

Retired Detective, Boston Police Dept.

I never knew you personally, what I've heard all started from my father when. I was young. My father was your son, Danny Wayne Jobe. He told your story to me and my sisters a long time ago. Just like you he was taking from us all to soon, he passed away in 1998 and I still remember that day clearly. I just wanted to leave a word for you because I never knew you, just the stories my dad told us. I want you know you have many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. I myself have seven, 4 of my own and 3 stepchildren who are just as much mine. I recently have battled a loss of my own, my wife Christina Jobe passed away November 28th. And if it wasn't for my sister Ashley Butler (Jobe) I wouldn't be alive today to see this or leave this message due to me attempting suicide back in January. Dad looked like you, from the pictures of him that I have and the memories of him I still remember. He may not have been perfect, but he tried with all he had to give us what we wanted and needed. I was only 7 when he passed away, but the memories I have of him I'll never forget. I remember we used to sit up late and watch vintage cartoons and eat Salisbury steak. He loved horror movies especially nightmare on elm Street. He always tried giving is everything we wanted, and he worked himself until he couldn't anymore. He battled his own demons and towards the end I believe he he changed for the best. The memories I have of him though not all the best I wouldn't change for anything. I do believe that he's with you, along with my mother and my wife. And I want you to know I love you dearly.

Rest in peace Officer Jobe. Your bravery and honor won't be forgotten. I was wondering if you were related to world renowned orthopaedist Dr. Frank Jobe.

Officer Jobe has touched many peoples hearts and was a very nice man! Or at least that was what I was told by my mother, Officer Jobe's daughter Dawn Schmitt. My mom has heard many stories from my grandmother Robin and they both tell me stories about my grandfather. In my living room my mother has a picture of him in his uniform, sometimes I can't look at it without crying. Even tho I don't know you because you passed I still cry because I miss you even tho and mainly because I never got to meet you! As I'm growing up it hits me harder and harder that I never got to meet you. From time to time I watch my mother cry from missing you! I always try to cheer her uo along with my 4 sisters! I also hear stories about how you were an awesome officer! I love you very much grandpa! Someday I'll get to know you!

You guys don't know me but this man who I can't recall meeting because I was less then a yr old when we meant. Played a huge part of my life, I am the grand daughter of this man. My father his son Danny Jobe passed in 1998.I really didn't know him either, though I love my father I however did not like who he was. I wish I could say his dad would be proud of him but I won't lie.
But if it wasn't for these two men I wouldn't have been given the beautiful little girl of mine. For that I am grateful! Even though I didn't know u rest assured it one person I can never forget. I'd love to know more about you but I can't. This is what I know. The picture of a handsome officer who died to young. My dad never talked of you uncle Kenny can't tell me a thing. Sometimes I wonder what u were like but i'll never know. If anyone can tell me who u were that would be great. Rest in peace papa, maybe someday I'll see you in heaven then we can Sat down and get to know one another. Just so u know a little about me. I am a mother to a beautiful blue eyed blonde headed 7 yr old name Adryanna Owens her father is a correction officer in transportation. I have a step son Zach who I love very much. She asks me about u but I can't tell her much. She loves everyone she meets and always smiles.

Hi My Sweet Brother,
Again I leave another message to say I love and miss you still. How many years has it been now since your death. 34 years without you. WOW, doesn't seem that long.
I can still remember all of our days together and I still miss you so much.
Remember one of the last family gatherings that we had.
Louise had put the Turkey in the oven in the basement, so that she could have the upstairs oven for other thing.
You had checked in on Mr. Turkey...you came upstairs and starting singing, what you claimed that the Turkey was singing, an old religious song "I'll fly away ole glory..I'll fly away"
Your humor was soooo amazing...and I miss that. Althou, I married a man with that same humor. You would love him, he is a gas.
Hopefully it will not be long until we are together again.
Say hello to the family that are there.
Love and miss you sweetie.

As a former Des Plaines Officer (Retired/Disability) it was an honor to be present today carrying the flag for the Chicago Police Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band for the memorial ceremony.
I was glad to be there to honor James and the others from Des Plaines.

I still miss you so much. I am now retired from my job with The Chicago Police Dept. after 27 years. I often think of you, had you not died, you would have been enjoying retirement with me.
Mom and Dad are now with you, as well as your son Danny and other family members. Hope you guys have met up in heaven and are waiting for the rest of us.
I can't wait to see you. I know it has been 31 years since you left us, but it seems like yesterday. I remember the last Holiday (Thanksgiving) before your accident.
Remember, we built that snowman and you turned it into a snowwoman. Ha Ha ...you were always so fun to be around.
Oh how I still hurt. I'm sorry I'm crying as I write this. But my Dear Brother I miss you so much.
You know we go back every year, Michael and I, to Chicago to play Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Chicago Police Memorial. This year I had a special bracelet made for all the newly deceased Officer' s spouses and gave it to them. I also made one for myself. It has your picture on it and it makes me feel so much closer to you. Like you are watching over me.
You would be happy to know that I met and married a really great guy after your death. He loves me so much. I think you would have liked him. His name is Michael Wolf and if he gets up there before me please take good care of him.
Well my Sweet Brother we will talk again soon. Tell Mom, Dad and all the rest of the family that we all love them and hope to see them soon. Here, There or in the air.
Love
Sis

Your heroism and service is honored today, the thirty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
