Reflections for Sergeant Joseph B. Jennings

Being your first grandson, born 2 years after your injury, we spent so much wonderful time together in the confines of your hospital room. Every Sunday after church and many summer days I had the opportunity to learn life lessons from you. Regardless of personal challenges, we all have much to cherish in life through the love and enjoyment of friends and family. A truly great and kind man who taught me so much.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I met Officer Jennings when I was in Lewis Gail Hospital in 1955/56 after having my right hand blown off.
He was a fine Gentleman and a great Person, and a great inspiration to me. I was only 13 years old when I met Him and he gave a lot on help by just talking with me. I learned a lot about life from Him ,and gained a lot of hope for my further life. I am now 66 years old and still think of Him Often.
Thank you My great friend.
