Trooper Jeffrey,
You were the first to make the ultimate sacrifice as a member an agency that would become known as The Maryland State Police. Sadly you would not be the last. Many others have fallen in the line of duty as you did but you and them have not been forgotten. All of your names are engraved on a memorial that stands in the center of the Head Quarters compound. Your memory is also etched in your fellow troopers hearts. We won't forget you John. Rest in peace my brother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 89th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Rest In Peace
