I think of you often. I look forward to your daughter driving by my house and speakiing to me, although it's not at often as i like. She is such a wonderful woman. I spoke with your great-granddaughter a few weeks ago and felt the same admiration. You would be so proud how beautiful they are. Be assured, that you are not forgotten....you are a hero to many! Your legacy is much to be proud of!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 71rst anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.

Rest In Peace

Ms. Collier little did I know that you and your father were a part of my law enforcement family. Our meeting was not by chance and a love and admiration that few understand has forever been forged. Each and everyday I try to visit the site to learn as well as to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Today I just want to tell your father and your family thank you. I want to let him know that I will be looking out for his girls. May he rest in peace.

OFFICER JACOBS,
i KNOW YOU DON'T KNOW ME BUT OUR K-9 OFFICER HAS SPOKEN TO ONE OF YOUR DAUGHTERS ON SEVERAL TIMES, HE HAS SHOWN HER YOUR MEMORIAL PAGE AND FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PRETTY EMOTIONAL RESPONSE. I WENT TO WASHINGTON D.C. THIS YEAR FOR THE PEACE OFFICER'S MEMORIAL AND HAD THE PRIVLEDGE OF OBTAINING SOME RUBBINGS OF YOUR NAME, AT THE REQUEST OF OFFICER SUMNERS FOR THE HOPE MILLS POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEN HE ASKED ME TO DO HIM A FAVOR AND TOLD ME WHAT IT WAS I DIDN'T HESITATE. WE FOUND YOUR NAME AND RUBBED AWAY. I FEEL HONORED TO BE ABLE TO HELP OFFICER SUMNERS GIVE THAT TO YOUR FAMILY. I HOPE TO MEET YOU SOME DAY. MAYBE YOU CAN FIND A FRIEND OF MINE, SGT. JAMES HEATH HARDIN, WE LOST HIM 01/11/2007.

William Jacobs was my grandfather. He was killed when my mother was 9yrs old. I so wish he could have been a part of our lives as we were growing up. And yet he is...I have one son with the skyblue eyes and square jawline of my grandfather. I pray often that he knows the family he left behind. His daughter, my mother reared 11 children and several were foster children. The wife he left behind was the most wonderful grandmother in the world! Pa Jake we never knew you but you left an awesome legacy!!!!!!!
Love forever and always your granddaughter, Mary

Ms. Collier, your father will never be forgotten! A piece of him is carried by all Officers that wear the badge. I'm positive that he was a good man for he left his legacy in you. I'm sure he's watching over all of us that work the beat.

A heart felt Thank You to everyone who takes the time to remember all of the fallen officers. They will always be heroes and protectors of the peace no matter the time or place they were in. Wiliam was a wonderful father and was a devoted husband and family member. I was only nine years old when he was taken from our family and I wish I would have had him with our family to share our lives and watch us grow.
All of our Officers are heroes and put their lives on the line everyday they are on the job. They should be given the respect and praise for their selfless courage every day they are in our lives.
All My Love,
Your Daughter, Barbara

What a tragedy, which probably was overshadowed by Pearl Harbor.

William, as you have known for many years, JESUS loves you...so do we.
