William Joseph Jackson, Jr. was my Grandfather. My mother, Helen Lorraine Jackson Hunter was fourteen years old at the time of his death. My mother was born in Columbia, S.C. She was an only child and lived most of her life in Plymouth, NC. My Grandmother, Annie Isoland Jackson, never remarried. I have in my possession, the original newspaper article from the Virginia Pilot describing the incident. I also have the handbook and letter from the Federal Government that described his duties and his annual salary. I only wish I could have met him!
