Reflections for Police Officer Warren Gene Jackman

Warren and I were classmates in the academy he was with KC MO and I was with Grandview and we would see one another. I left Grandview and became a Park Ranger with KC and we would meet more often. There were over a hundred officers outside of the church after it fillled. I think of him often especially after I became a

I knew Warren and many of the north patrol. I was a cook and asst. manager at the House of Pancakes on Chouteua traffic way. The fellows would come in often. I remember sitting and laughing with them. Warren always had a tale to tell. God bless all of the men in blue. Rest in peace officer Jackman we will meet again. Your cook in the nights and morning's.

I worked with Warren Jackman and rode the same police car.
Couldn't ask for a better guy and police officer.. We lost a great one in 1976.

Hello,

My name is Sgt. Cusimano and work for the Dekalb County Police Department in Georgia. I am honored to know Officer Jackman's daughter. There is not a day that goes by that, even though she was young, she does not think of her father and the sacrifice he made. We both are participating in a run in Washington D. C. for the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund. We both are dedicating our run for her father and others that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Please help her reach her goal. Go to the NLEOMF website and donate to Lisa Bartow.

Attended the academy with Warren. Saw him occasionally afterwards. Terrific man. So many at his funeral we were lined up to the street. Funeral procession was many miles long.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I was assigned to the same police car as Warren out of the North-East Patrol/North.
I can see Warren laughing at me when I got his "Chaw" on my uniform that landed on the driver door all the time.
Warren was a wonderful person, man and police officer. I still to this day miss him very much.
I wish I knew where his kids were today because I have Warren's Police Photos that they might want.
God, Take Care Of This Man, he is one of the great ones.

I met Warren when I came back from Nam and went to work at a 7-11 store in KCMO. He brought an underage alcohol purchaser back into the store where I worked (he looked 30).
Warren had me put the alcohol back and told the guy it was a warning. If he had arrested me for supplying I would have never had a 31 year career with the MSHP. He stopped by and had coffee after that and became a friend. He was a fair officer, thanks, Warren

YOU TWO GUYS DID ALMOST ABOUT THE SAME THING. THANKS FOR DOING THE JOB AND I WILL SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES.SLEEP IN PEACE!!
