I appreciate this article immensely. Mr. Iattoni is my great grandfather. I knew he was killed in the line of duty but I wanted to km now more and it is pretty amazing to find an actual article of the whole situation! Thank you again!

A truly brave officer, who gave his life honorably performing his duties. His heroic story was told to me by my mother, many years ago. My mother was a 17 year old hospital employee when the tragic events occurred. Rest in peace Lt. Iatonni.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Fourteen years prison sentence for your murder was woefully inadequate and must have added to your family's pain.

Rest In Peace.

Lt. Iattoni,

I remember the first time when I visited Calumet City PD and read about your demise.

To all of the new officers, welcome to the exciting and dangerous world of Law Enforcement!

Get to know the people who are on the Radio because they love and care about you, your loved ones and getting home safely.

I worked with Sherry Wright, who in my opinion is one of the best Dispatchers ever. She lovee "digging," goes the extra mile, and does a great job.

To my fellow 911 Telecommunicators, contine to keep a watchful eye in 2008, and please realize that your due is coming. You play a VERY important role in Police Work and hopefully in this new year, our men and women in blue and white will recognize this.

Be safe to all.

Sincerely,

Gregory Struss
