Detective Hughes,
I stumbled upon the story of your End of Watch as I was searching for old news articles about the Pgh Bureau of Fire in back issues of The Pittsburgh Leader on microfilm in Carnegie Library. I had relatives living in Soho back then, including very near Emmet Street. From now on, I'll always remember you and how you protected us in Soho and in other parts of Pittsburgh. Thank you for your service

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 82nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Lieutenant Hughes - Sounds very much like you were "leading from the front", Sir. Thank you for your example of courage in the face of danger. Thanks, too, for your service to the people of Pittsburgh and the state of Pennsylvania. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
