Agent Howell, while your assailant(s) may have never been caught they surely faced a higher court and a higher justice at a later time in a different place. Thank you for your service and please know that no passage of time will ever erase your sacrifice. Rest in peace always.

Thanks all of you for honoring Charles Edward. He was my great grandfather. He was an honorable man cut down in the prime of life, raiding a still on the north bank of the Tennessee river in Decatur, AL. His death left his wife with four children to raise, and very few resources for doing so.
All of the children had to go to work. My grandfather was 11 years old when he took his first job mucking out stalls at a livery stable.
The sacrifice Charles made impacted our family for decades.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 92nd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
