Dad,
It has been forty years since your untimely death. You are always in our thoughts and prayers. Everyday we think about you and wished you were here.
I wish you were here while Sean and I were kids who wanted and did follow in your footsteps.
I wish you were to see Sean and I graduate from our respective police academies.
I wish you were here to meet your five grandchildren.
I wish you were here so we could do the things fathers and sons do together.
I wish you were here because we miss you!
Your Loving Sons,
Jim & Sean

Today as I reflect in memory of another officer that was a close friend, I wanted to take a moment to thank you Officer Hodgdon for your courage and bravery in your chosen field. Although I never met you, I was a young girl living in Lexington during the time of your death. I hope that your family has been able to heal a bit since the tragedy. What you chose to do for a life career is the most bravest career anyone can ever choose. Please know that your efforts did not go unnoticed. God bless you and your family!

I did not know you, but I have met and got to know your son Sean. He is an excellent Trooper and trusted friend. Sean has done honor to your memory with his service to our Country and the Mass State Police. He is without a doubt one of the most stand-up guys I know. May you rest in Peace and may god continue to bless and watchover your family.

Patrolman Hodgdon, today marks the 39th anniversary of your tragic death. When one thinks about all the driving we do and all we have to do while driving, it’s utterly amazing that there aren’t more accidents. People in other professions also have a lot of driving to do, but we also have to watch what’s going on all around us and make note of things. If it was indeed while you were jotting down a registration number, I understand fully. I can’t speak for everyone, but I can recall a few near misses while doing just that. Your efforts and the time you spent with the Lexington PD have not been forgotten and you are remembered.
God Bless you and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
