40 years ago today we lost you. The only possible explanation is you were too good for this earth. We will never forget you. Treasured memories of you are still vivid. Thank you for being the greatest role model. Until we meet again... Forever in our hearts. We love you. Lisa, Sandy and Angela

I haven't stopped by here for a while. Just wanted to say hi and thank you to Neil for all of the wonderful letters and funny photos he has been sending me of the two of you. How great it has been hearing stories of your teenage years from a friend's point of view.
I love reading all the posts - so much love on this site.
You are loved and missed so much.
Your daughter.

I think of you often. The kids of the neighborhood were so lucky to have you as a role model. You influenced all of us to do better and be better. Thank you for all you did and the ultimate sacrifice you and your family made. Your death was so senseless to me but G-d had other plans.

My Best Friend,

I was going through an old box and I found a photo we had taken on the Boardwalk. It was 50 years ago. Although we were the best of friends after high school we only spoke and saw each other a few times. I went to New York, got married, had 3 kids and on and on. There just never seemed enouth time to go to Atlantic City. I'm sorry that we didn't find the time to communicate in our adulthood. When I heard about the accident I called Donna and your Mom to say how sorry I was for their loss. I am so sorry we didn't keep in touch. We did have a great friendship and I will always cherish that friendship.
From the Hairdresser to a police officer wow. Remember when you "borrowed your brothers canoe because you wanted to smell good for Donna. Remember when you "borrowed your brother's Heavenly Album and loaned it to me for the weekend. It worked. We fell in love and have been happily married for 48 years. Remember Wildwood, Cape May, the Speak Easy and the Fiat. We were all of 16-18 and they were great times. I never had another friend lke you again.

Danielle if you would like the photo please contact me. You're mom will remember me.

Through the years I've wondered if I hadn't quit the PD and you hadn't gotten my stripes and my squad and my shift, might I have been in that car that night. Thinking of you and Donna and Danielle often.

Sgt. Daniel Kashey
Margate City P.D.

The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
