You are not forgotten John E. Higgins.
I was doing searches on my Great Grandfather, Samuel Nathaniel Higgins who joined the Boston Police in 1926, and found the memorial above. My Great Grandfather had a brother and nephew both named John E. Higgins, and now it makes me wonder if the John E. Higgins above could be his brother? Although the info I have for his death states he died in 1907 at the age of 22; his son died in youth. My Great Grandfather also had a brother in law in the Boston Police; they supposedly both were in the same graduating class from the academy? Joseph F. Carberry/Carbery/Cabrey/Cabery (that side of the fam have a few spelling variants on records).
Thank you John E. Higgins for your service.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

Nine months doesn't even give a rough idea of what kind of career you might have had as a member of the Massachusetts State Police. Patrolman Higgins, though you were not protecting the Commonwealth long, you did your job none-the-less and you deserve to be honored for that. I'm glad you are, here.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
